Feature Inspiration and Draft Sketch

These are all examples of features from which I have taken inspiration in one way or another. My feature draft is inspired mainly by the bottom two features; they both have a simple layout, with the main image and text on separate pages, inlcuding one drop cap and pull quotes made to stand out from the rest of the text.

Contents Page Inspiration and Draft Sketch

These contents pages are ones which I have looked at in detail and taken certain elements from for my own contents page; for example, the structured layout of both NME and Q's contents pages have has inspired the layout of my contents page drafts. From looking at different contents pages, I made a draft sketch of what my contents page should look like:

Front Cover Inspiration and Draft Sketch

These pictures are examples of front covers which I like. They are generally simple and structured, with clean lines and font used. A minimal amount of colours are used, which is the style I am going for in my magazine. The main images are also quite simple, with the exception of the mise en scene in MIA's NME cover; the people featured are usually staring straight ahead at the camera, and their faces are expressive without being dramatic. Here is a draft sketch of what I hope my front cover will look like. As you can see, I have taken a lot of inspiration from NME, and the cover with Florence Welch on it (which I have also deconstructed) is the one I am modelling my cover on.
